Our Journey in Phuket
The Foundation
Our journey began in the summer of 1998 with the opening of our very first storefront, Zara Collections, on Patak Road in Karon Beach. Driven by a passion for the sartorial arts and a genuine love for connecting with travellers from around the globe, we quickly established a reputation for immaculate fits and honest, pressure-free service. As our reputation grew, so did our family business, expanding into multiple beloved local brands including Tommy Fashion (1999) and Raj Collections (2001).
Weathering the Storms
A true legacy is not built during the easy times; it is forged through adversity. When the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami struck, it forever changed the landscape of our island. While the economic aftermath eventually led to the closure of our Raj Collections branch in 2007, our commitment to our craft and our clients never wavered. We rebuilt, refined our skills, and continued to serve the visitors who returned to our beautiful island.
A Promise in Our Names
By 2016, we realised that our success wasn't due to the names on our storefronts — it was due to the personal relationships we had built with our clients. We transitioned our flagship Zara Collections brand into Kenny & Gita Tailor. We put our own names on the door as a personal guarantee to every client who walks in: you are dealing directly with the family.
Resilience & a Permanent Home
The global COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 brought the world's travel industry to a halt, forcing the difficult closure of our two-decade-old Tommy Fashion branch. Yet, once again, we chose resilience over defeat. Emerging from the pandemic in 2021, we achieved our proudest milestone to date: purchasing our own building at 98/49-50 Kata Road. After decades of leasing, we finally laid permanent roots.
